Valve has introduced a new design for the Steam library
At GDC 2019, Valve showed a new interface for the Steam library. Thus, the company confirmed long-standing rumors about the redesign of the store.
Currently, the appearance of the service is the same. But in the next few months, Valve will begin publicly testing the new design, Kotaku writes.
What will change:
- News about user activity will appear in the right part of the library. At the top will be a list of recently launched projects. The covers of other games from the user’s collection will be placed below. He will be able to set the size of the covers himself.
- A list of friends and information about their activity are also integrated into the right part of the screen.
- The left part of the screen will not change much. It is still a list of all purchased games, including those selected by the user. But they can be sorted by genre.
- An advanced search for games will be added not only by genre, but even by tags.
- The game pages will also be changed. By clicking on the project in the library, the user will see news about events and DLC, achievements, screenshots, collectible cards, as well as the activity of friends in this game and their reviews.
- The “Events” tab will be added, where all updates in purchased games will be tracked (including new patches, broadcasts and events). Steam will divide them into recommended, important and minor events. It is not clear exactly where this tab will be located.
