Five sites about game design

We continue to publish collections of sites. This time it’s the turn of game designers. We present five English-language resources with useful content.

gamedesign

1. Extra Credits

A repository of short (5 minutes each) animated video clips about various aspects of game design. The authors of the blog also host a podcast and write articles – also about game design.

2. Designer Notes

The blog of a game designer who worked on the third Civilization. He hosts a podcast, talks about the pros and cons of his work. Disassembles games. Sometimes he hangs up big interesting articles.

3. Critical Gaming – Game Design 101

A resource where the principles of game design are understood by the example of well-known titles. The materials are divided into courses – from the basics to the subtleties of the profession.

4. 3 Minute Game Design

Video blog about game design. The videos, as it is clear from the name of the resource, are very short – 3 minutes maximum. Despite this, the author of the blog manages to clearly and clearly sort out the necessary information. The resource will be useful for novice game designers.

5. A Series of Interesting Choices

The resource belongs to Paul Sottosanti. This is a game designer with 15 years of experience. He managed to work in Wizards of the Coast, EA and Riot Games and now shares the subtleties of the profession on the pages of his own blog. The site, in our opinion, is for game designers with solid experience, since Sottonsanti does not explain the basics.
