Candy Crush Saga earned "only" $280 million in the third quarter
King started losing money. According to a financial report published recently, the revenues of the British company in the third quarter of 2014 fell by more than $ 100 million compared to the same year earlier.
In general, the situation looks like this:
- The company’s revenue amounted to $514.4 million (compared to $621.2 million a year earlier);
- The company’s profit reached $141.7 million (against $229.8 million a year earlier);
- Total DAU – 137 million (against 109 million last year);
- Total MAU – 495 million (against 361 million last year);
- MUU (the number of monthly unique users of the company’s games) – 348 million (against 269 million last year)
- MUP (number of unique payers) – 8,669 (against 13,012 last year)
- MGABPPU (Monthly gross average bookings per paying user) – $20.92 (compared to $16.60 last year).
The main reason for the deterioration of financial results is the drop in sales of Candy Crush Saga. The report does not directly say exactly how much they fell, but it is easy to calculate.
King states that the so-called gross booking (volume of orders) of all the company’s games, excluding Candy Crush Saga, amounted to $264 million in the third quarter. A year ago, this figure was $99 million. At the same time, the total “volume of orders” this year was $544 million against $648 million.
Knowing this, it is not difficult to calculate that in the third quarter of 2013 Candy Crush Saga earned 549 million, and this year for the same period “only” – $ 280 million.
