Samsung's two flagships account for 40% of GREE's revenue
The Japanese giant of the social mobile games industry GREE reports that 40.3% of the profits received by the company from Android devices are brought by users of only two devices.
So, according to GREE’s internal indicators, most of the revenue comes from Samsung Galaxy SIII. The flagship accounts for 22.5% of all revenues. Samsung Galaxy SII is in second place with 17.8%.
In total, there are seven smartphones and three tablet devices in the top ten.
These figures were shared by Alex Rosen, Director of Product and business analytics at GREE, in his blog on Gamasutra. He also claims that over the past year, monetization (per-user monetization metrics) from one user of Android devices has increased by 400%. This is explained not only by the improvement in the design of the GREE games themselves, but also by the overall growth of Google Play: “revenue from games on Google Play is growing and very fast,” Rosen notes.
With all the variety of Android devices, it is enough for developers with limited resources to test games only on those that turned out to be the most profitable for GREE, Rosen believes. His advice is to continue investing in Google Play and, using GREE’s internal statistics, focus on the leading devices.
