Samsung sold 60% more smartphones in the first quarter than in 2012
According to the financial report of Samsung Electronics, for the last quarter ended March 31, 2013, the company earned about $47.6 billion, which is 17% higher than the same period last year.
And the dynamics of the growth of operating profit, amounting to $ 7.9 billion, is even higher – 54%. According to analysts, one of the main success factors in this case is the company’s dominance in the smartphone market.
Samsung’s latest hit – Galaxy S IVThe company did not release data on the number of smartphones shipped, however, according to recent estimates by IDC, during the reporting quarter Samsung delivered 70.7 million devices to the market, which is 60% more than last year’s number in the same period.
For comparison, let’s mention that Apple sold 37.4 million iPhone units in the same three months.
That is, who is the king in the market now – it is clear. And it is equally clear that Android continues to increase its presence in the market largely due to the success of Samsung. But, as we have already written, Samsung plans to switch users’ attention to the new OS very soon. The question is, will she have enough of these capacities to promote Tizen?
