EA has increased profits with the help of zombies
The Simpsons: Tapped Out took first place in the American box office apps chart after the appearance of the living dead in the game.
A game with a difficult fate, The Simpsons: Tapped Out, for the first time in three months that it is in the top ten box office projects for the iPhone, got to its top. It happened after the game update on October 3. The next morning, the project was already not on the tenth, but on the first position in the top.
But first, a little history. The game, which is another variation of Farmville, was released on iOS back in March of this year. A well–known brand, the name of the publisher, the familiar gameplay – all this played into the hands of the project. The problem was that The Simpsons: Tapped Out was, as they say, not finished: problems with servers, critical bugs and, as a result, negative reviews. As a result, just a couple of days after the launch, EA simply withdrew the project from the App Store “for revision”.
But at the end of August, the game quietly returned back to the store. Already without numerous bugs and communication problems. And less than a week later, the game was in the box office top ten. She hasn’t left her since.
And the other day, an update was released to Tapped Out, which allowed the game to take first place in the American box office chart for both iPhone and iPad. What is his secret? In the new content? Not only that, previous updates (2.2 and 2.3) also could not do without it.
It’s all about zombies.
In the update, a free structure appeared – the Springfield Cemetery, which produces the living dead. It is enough to click on the monster so that it disappears, leaving behind something useful in the household. The main fun, however, is not in this. If a zombie bites one of the residents of the city, for example, Homer or Bart, then the latter will also turn into a zombie.
Therefore, the main pleasure in the game is watching the zombies of your favorite characters walking through the streets of Springfield. A sight not to be missed. Since the update is timed to Halloween, the holiday content will be withdrawn after October 31. While this has not happened, American users are actively downloading the application.
