In the Netherlands, a suspect was detained for allegedly leaking revenue data from GTA Online

The Dutch police arrested a 24-year-old resident of Amsterdam as part of an investigation into the activities of the hacker group ShinyHunters, which had previously attacked over a hundred companies, including Rockstar Games.

The detained individual is alleged to have led ShinyHunters since 2025. The group denies this, accusing the Dutch police of incompetence. According to them, not only was he not the leader of ShinyHunters, but he was not even a member of the organization.

Following the arrest, Brett Leatherman, the Deputy Director of the FBI's cyber division, addressed the remaining ShinyHunters members. He urged them to surrender and stated that the confiscated infrastructure and testimonies from accomplices would lead the authorities to them anyway, so it would be better for the perpetrators to come forward voluntarily. It has not been reported whether anyone responded to his call.

ShinyHunters gained access to Rockstar Games' data in April 2026 and demanded a ransom, threatening to publish the stolen information. The company refused, so soon after, information about the revenue of Red Dead Online and GTA Online surfaced online. It was revealed that Red Dead Online earns $507,000 a week, while GTA Online earns over $9 million.
