The Dragon Quest series has surpassed 100 million copies sold
Square Enix announced reaching a significant milestone on social media.

The company specified that the 100 million copies include both digital sales and physical shipments of games from the Dragon Quest series, but chose not to share more detailed statistics.
“Thank you to each adventurer who has joined us on this journey. May we have many more adventures together!”, wrote Square Enix on the official Dragon Quest account on X.
The previous major sales milestone for Dragon Quest was reached in the fall of 2025, when it sold 95 million copies worldwide. Thus, it took the franchise a year to sell an additional 5 million copies.
To recall, the first Dragon Quest was released back in 1986. To date, Square Enix has released 11 main series titles, not counting numerous spin-offs. On December 3, 2026, a new game is also set to release — Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World, which will debut on PC and consoles.
