Frontier Developments reports a 62% increase in adjusted operating profit for fiscal year 2026, reaching £21.4 million
Frontier Developments has unveiled unprecedented financial achievements after its update in June.
The company's adjusted operating profit soared by 62% to reach £21.4 million in FY26, marking the highest in its records. This surge was attributed to successful trading, effective cost management, as well as enhanced tax and expenditure credits.
Excluding a previous one-off gain of £3.9 million from the sale of publishing rights, the adjusted operating profit showcased a significant yearly increase, exceeding double the prior figure.
With a 16% rise, total revenues climbed to £104.8 million, supported by high sales of Jurassic World Evolution 3 and the Planet Coaster and Planet Zoo series.
Operating profit jumped by 97% to £25.0 million. This growth reflected strong foundational trading performance, complemented by a distinct transitional tax credit of £4.4 million.
Recent leadership updates include appointing Dan Lazarides as the new chief marketing officer last month. David Braben is set to continue as president and founder while transitioning to a non-executive director role from October 1, 2026.
In its strategic expansion plans, the studio announced a collaboration with Disney to create a new game inspired by Disney’s IP.
Scheduled for release on October 13, 2026, Planet Zoo 2 will be followed by Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Deathwatch, planned to launch before the close of FY27.
Frontier is also intensely working on a CMS game based on its IP, which is progressing steadily. The company aims to launch an average of one CMS game each year.
"FY26 marked a significant milestone for Frontier," stated CEO Jo Cooke. "Our record financial performance reflects the robustness of our CMS strategy, coupled with investments in popular franchises that encourage vibrant community engagement and sustained involvement across our offerings.
"With our strong financial standing, skilled team, and promising plans, we are poised to ensure continuous growth, lasting value for players, and enduring returns for our stakeholders."
David Braben, Frontier’s president, remarked: "I am incredibly proud of the accomplishments by our talented teams since Frontier's inception in 1994, and I am excited about future prospects. Jo's leadership as CEO will further enhance Frontier’s strong foundations, ensuring sustained success alongside our proficient leadership team.
"This transition offers me the chance to focus on assisting this journey, including overseeing our game offerings, and I am eager to continue supporting Frontier and Jo in the time to come."
