The European mobile gaming industry is projected to achieve global revenues of €7.53 billion in 2025

In 2025, European mobile gaming firms amassed €7.53 billion in worldwide earnings, and this figure is projected to rise above €8 billion by 2028. The sector's gross value added (GVA) was approximately €5.89 billion to Europe's economy that year, anticipated to grow 4.8% to €6.17 billion by 2028.

These insights are derived from the "Mobile Matters" report, commissioned by King and produced in partnership with Nordicity. Covering 32 European areas and more than 1,000 mobile game studios, the report focuses exclusively on companies specializing in mobile platforms.

Across Europe, more than 1,000 mobile gaming enterprises are operational, supporting around 63,340 full-time equivalent roles. Revenue generation is concentrated in key regions, with Finland leading at €1.4 billion, followed by the UK at €895 million, and Ireland at €868 million in 2025.

Mobile games constituted more than half of the global gaming revenue in 2025, with a value of €91.25 billion of the total €167.26 billion globally. That year, 61% of Europeans engaged in gaming via smartphones or tablets, with the average gamer aged 31 and 75% being adults.

Todd Green, president of King, emphasized the importance of maintaining Europe's stronghold in mobile gaming. He stated that upholding Europe’s status as a hub for creative and digital entities requires continued investment and innovation within the industry.

The report scrutinizes the evolution of mobile gaming in Europe, discussing its current workings and economic contributions throughout the region. For Europe to stay competitive globally, policymakers need to recognize not only the existing value of this sector but also the conditions necessary for the European mobile gaming ecosystem to expand, innovate, and attract international audiences.
