Nexon earned over $960 million for the first quarter for the first time
The first three months of 2026 were exceptionally successful for Nexon. In its latest financial report, the company boasted about achieving the highest revenue in the history of all its first quarters.
MapleStory: Idle RPG
- Nexon's quarterly revenue exceeded 152.2 billion yen ($962 million), up by a third from the previous year.
- Nexon's operating profit also set a record for the first quarter, amounting to 58.16 billion yen ($368 million), an increase of 40% year-on-year.
- Both figures could have been even higher if not for the scandal surrounding the mobile game MapleStory: Idle RPG. In January, gamers accused the company of deceit due to incorrect data for enhancing character traits in the game, along with complaints about the gacha mechanics. Nexon later admitted fault and agreed to refund affected users. As a result of the refunds, they lost out on 6.7 billion yen ($42.4 million) in revenue and 3.5 billion yen ($22 million) in profit.
- Nevertheless, Nexon named MapleStory: Idle RPG as one of the growth drivers of the quarterly revenue. Apparently, the game generated much more income than was spent on refunds. Additionally, the company is pleased with the successes of MapleStory Worlds, ARC Raiders, and THE FINALS.
- 77% of Nexon's revenue came from "major" platforms — PC and consoles. The rest was generated by mobile.
- South Korea became Nexon's primary market, providing 38% of its revenue. Following are North America and Europe (29%), and China (21%).
