Resident Evil Requiem claims the top spot on the US charts for February, with launch sales exceeding those of Village by 60% | US Monthly Charts
Debuting in 2026 as the top-selling game in the United States, Resident Evil Requiem led the February sales charts across PlayStation, Xbox, and PC platforms, according to Circana's report. This ninth entry in Capcom's celebrated survival horror series sold 60% more units during its launch week compared to the release week of Resident Evil Village, with individual unit sales seeing a 40% increase, excluding bundled packages.
The Resident Evil Generation Pack, featuring games like Resident Evil 7, Village, and Requiem, emerged at 20th place on the Switch 2 platform.
Aside from Requiem, other new titles joining Circana's Top 20 in February included Mario Tennis Fever, God of War: Sons of Sparta, My Hero Academia: All's Justice, and Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined, with the latter securing the 14th spot for the year.
On the mobile front, Monopoly Go claimed the foremost position, leading to Royal Match falling to second. Meanwhile, Pokémon Go re-emerged in the top rankings, climbing eight places.
According to Bryan Isagholian from Sensor Tower, "Pokémon Go ascended into the Top 10 again with a 61% increase in revenue month-over-month, resulting from the Road to Kalos event launched in late February. This uptrend is expected to continue into early March as the event concludes."
The overall U.S. video game market saw revenues totaling $4.6 billion in February, with content expenses approaching $4 billion—both maintaining steady year-on-year growth. The surge was fueled by a 27% rise in non-subscription sales coupled with the success of Requiem.
The hardware sector reported a 22% year-on-year growth, reaching £326 million. Despite declines for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles, the Switch 2's strong sales helped offset these, although the PlayStation 5 still led sales in units and revenue. The Switch 2 ranked second, achieving a 45% higher install base compared to its predecessor within nine months on the market.
