In the first week, sales of Mewgenics surpassed one million copies
So far, this is the most successful release of 2026. The developers themselves did not anticipate such results.
The achievement was shared by Tyler Glaiel, who specifically noted that at the time of release, Mewgenics had about 600,000 wishlists. Out of these, 200,000 were added after the game received enthusiastic reviews from the press.
As a reminder, Mewgenics recouped its development costs just three hours after its release. Here's how the game's sales dynamics currently look:
- 150,000 copies — in five hours;
- 250,000 copies — in 12 hours;
- 500,000 copies — in a day and a half;
- 1 million copies — in the first week.
Currently, Glaiel and Edmund McMillen are working on console versions of Mewgenics and localizing the game into other languages. Announced languages include Russian, Simplified Chinese, Japanese, and Korean. Given the project's success, it's possible this list will expand in the future.
