NetEase has unveiled its financial outcomes for the year 2025, noting a 6.9% increase in total revenue to RMB 112.6 billion (approximately $16.1 billion).
Its gaming segment reported revenues of RMB 92.1 billion ($13.2 billion), illustrating a 10.1% rise from the previous year's figure of RMB 83.6 billion ($12.1 billion).
Online games contributed 97.3% to this segment’s annual revenue, with significant net sales driven by titles such as Fantasy Westward Journey Online, Identity V, Where Winds Meet, and Marvel Rivals.
For the fourth quarter, gaming revenue was RMB 22 billion ($3.1 billion), which is 3.4% higher on a year-on-year basis. The company's total revenue reached RMB 27.5 billion ($3.9 billion), reflecting a 3% increase from a year earlier.
These financial achievements were primarily due to the elevated sales of Fantasy Westward Journey Online, Marvel Rivals, and Where Winds Meet by Everstone Studios. Notably, established franchises demonstrated "sustained strong engagement" during the quarter, with Where Winds Meet surpassing 80 million players globally.
The company also achieved unprecedented annual revenue from Blizzard titles in China by offering "enriched content and localized experiences."
In addition, the publisher communicated its approach to AI, declaring that it had "successfully implemented AI throughout the full cycle of game development and innovation" in sectors such as art, design, programming, animation, and quality assurance.
According to NetEase, AI enhances "high volume, scalable production," facilitating the seamless introduction of dynamic, AI-driven gameplay features across multiple flagship games.
CEO and director William Ding stated, "We wrapped up 2025 on a strong note, showcasing the resilience of our long-term gaming operations and the expanding influence of our international titles."
Ding continued, "AI has become integral to our development and operations. We systematically apply AI across all facets of game development and gameplay, significantly improving production and unlocking new interactive experiences for our players that were previously unattainable."
Looking to the future, Ding emphasized their dedication to providing exceptional experiences across the NetEase brand. By nurturing a creative talent network, enhancing global partnerships, and advancing AI application capabilities, the company aims to extend the life span of its franchises and innovate experiences to add value for players and shareholders worldwide.
