Supercell's revenue is set to decrease by 4% to €2.65 billion in 2025
Financial reports for 2025 from Finnish mobile game developer Supercell show a 4% reduction in revenue, bringing the total to €2.65 billion.
Despite the revenue dip, pre-tax earnings rose by 6% to €932 million. Supercell paid €220 million in corporate taxes in Finland for the year and expanded its workforce by 30%, ending 2025 with 890 employees globally.
The company's portfolio of live games grew in terms of active users, amassing an estimated 290 million monthly players.
Among its games, Clash Royale achieved unprecedented engagement, reaching new highs in daily player counts. In a blog update, CEO Ilkka Paananen highlighted a nearly 500% increase in new players throughout the year.
In 2025, Supercell doubled its investment in game development, with plans to further double these investments, according to Paananen.
"In a time when many firms are retracting, we've chosen to advance," Paananen remarked. "Our robust live game results, particularly the remarkable year for Clash Royale, have positioned us well to make long-term commitments. We feel fortunate and aim to capitalize on this advantage."
Paananen also discussed the decision to discontinue Squad Busters less than a year and a half post-launch.
"Supercell faced growing internal pressure to take significant risks, although it wasn't driven top-down by leadership but was a result of not launching new games in six years," Paananen explained.
Eino Joas, a game lead, noted their past five launches had a 100% success rate, leading to a sense that risk-taking had become overly conservative. Consequently, they proceeded with the launch.
Paananen wrapped up his comments by stating the team now believes a third, extended beta might have revealed a disparity between the game and player expectations sooner, a seemingly simple yet complex realization.
