Nintendo Report: Revenue Doubled, Switch 2 Sales Surpass 17 Million Units

Nintendo has announced its results for the first nine months of fiscal 2026 — that is, for the period from April 1 to December 31, 2025. The company reported that Switch 2 sales continued to gain momentum, and as a result, the company's revenues increased.

  • Nintendo's net revenue from April to December 2025 increased by 99.3% compared to the same period in 2024. It reached a total of 1.9 trillion yen ($12.2 billion).
  • Net profit also showed growth — up by 51.3% to 358.8 billion yen ($2.3 billion).

Console Business

  • According to Nintendo, by December 31, 2025, the company had sold 17.37 million units of the Switch 2. The console was particularly popular at the end of the year — it sold 7.1 million units from October to December alone.
  • Sales of the original Switch declined significantly. From April to December 2025, Nintendo sold 3.25 million units of the console, 66% less than the previous year.
  • Nonetheless, total sales of the original Switch since the device's launch reached 155.37 million units. This officially made it the best-selling console in Nintendo's history, surpassing the Nintendo DS, which sold 154.02 million units.

Games

  • During the reporting period, gamers worldwide purchased 37.93 million copies of Switch 2 games and 108.93 million copies (-12.1%) of the original Switch games.
  • By the end of December, Mario Kart World had sold 14.03 million copies, Donkey Kong Bananza 4.25 million copies, and Kirby Air Riders 1.76 million copies.
  • Mario Kart 8 Deluxe remains the best-selling game on the original Switch. Its sales totaled 70.59 million copies as of December 31, 2025.
