Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 was unable to become the best-selling game in the US by the end of 2025. The sales leader is Battlefield 6
For the first time in history, one of the parts of the Battlefield series surpassed Call of Duty in annual sales in the US. This is according to data from the analytics company Circana.

As reported by Circana analyst Mat Piscatella, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 ranked only fifth in the top sales in the US for 2025. Besides Battlefield 6, it also lagged behind NBA 2K26, Borderlands 4, and Monster Hunter Wilds. It is assumed that this scenario was the worst for the Call of Duty franchise in the past 17 years — since 2008, when Call of Duty: World at War placed seventh in the American chart.
It is noteworthy that Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is available on Game Pass, whereas Battlefield 6 was not included in subscription services. This could have partially influenced the situation.
Other data from the Circana report for 2025:
- In total, last year, US residents spent $60.68 billion on video games, gaming hardware, and accessories. This is 1% more than in 2024;
- Sales of video games themselves in the US amounted to $52.3 billion in 2025, up by 1%;
- Sales of gaming hardware increased by 9% to $5.4 billion. The best-seller was the Nintendo Switch 2. By the end of the year, the number of Nintendo Switch 2 units sold in the US exceeded 4.4 million, nearly double what it was for the original Nintendo Switch in the same time frame;
- Sales of gaming accessories fell by 7% to $2.95 billion. The most demanded was the Pro Controller for the Nintendo Switch 2.
