Divinity: Original Sin 2 saw its best monthly sales since 2017 following the announcement of the next game

This was reported on the social network X by the CEO of Larian Studios, Swen Vincke.

Divinity: Original Sin 2

According to Vincke, sales of Divinity: Original Sin 2 have soared amid the excitement surrounding the new Divinity, which Larian Studios announced on December 11 at The Game Awards 2025.

Although Vincke did not mention this in his post, another contributing factor to the sales increase was likely the recent release of Divinity: Original Sin 2 on modern consoles. Recall that in mid-December, versions of the game were released for Xbox Series, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2. This likely boosted interest in the title and attracted an additional audience.

Simultaneously, the head of Larian Studios noted a spike in sales of Baldur’s Gate 3. He boasted that the number of copies sold for both Baldur’s Gate 3 and Divinity: Original Sin 2 in the past month was "incredible," but he did not disclose specific numbers.

The release date for the next installment in the Divinity series is currently unknown. It is expected that the game will debut in early access and will only reach a full release over time.
