In November 2025, hardware and software sales experienced a significant decline, reaching an "all-time low" according to the US Monthly Charts

According to Circana's data, both US hardware and software sales saw a sharp downturn in November 2025, setting new lows in tracked records.

Spending on gaming hardware plummeted by 27%, dropping from $949 million to $695 million. This marked the smallest November revenue since 2005 when it recorded $455 million.

With only 1.6 million units sold, last month marked the lowest November for console sales in the nation since 1995.

The PlayStation 5 topped unit sales, overtaking the Nintendo Switch 2, which had maintained the lead since its debut in June.

Third in line was the NEX Playground, followed by the Xbox Series X|S. Circana's Mat Piscatella mentioned in IGN that Xbox sales fell 70% compared to the previous year, a record low for November in the US market.

The last notable increase in Xbox sales was seen in November 2021, which experienced an 11% growth from year to year.

The PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2 (including the original Switch) witnessed sales drops of 40% and 10% respectively from the prior year.

Sales of physical games declined by 14% year-on-year, the lowest since records began in 1995.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 emerged as November's top-selling title, continuing the series' streak of debuting at No. 1 for 18 years in a row during its release month.

Ranked as the 7th best-selling title of the year so far, the franchise saw a significant percentage drop in sales compared to last November.

In terms of content, overall US spending saw a marginal rise of 1% from last year, reaching $4.8 billion.

Subscription-related spending increased by 16% and mobile spending improved by 2%, balancing out declines in console and PC content expenditures.
