In the last quarter, NetEase earned $3.3 billion from games, which is almost three times less than Tencent

The Chinese company NetEase has released its financial report for July-September 2025. Here’s what it contains.

Destiny: Rising

  • According to the report, the third quarter of 2025 was successful for NetEase. Its net profit reached 8.8 billion yuan ($1.2 billion), marking an increase of 31.1% compared to the previous year.
  • NetEase's revenue grew more modestly — by 8.2% to 28.4 billion yuan ($4 billion).
  • NetEase's gaming division contributed 23.3 billion yuan ($3.3 billion), with its revenues rising by 11.8%. Although this is a substantial amount, the company is still far from Tencent's level — recall, Tencent's gaming revenue for the same period amounted to 63.6 billion yuan ($8.92 billion).
  • The report highlighted the strong launch of the mobile game Destiny: Rising. On its release day, August 28, the new game topped the charts of the most downloaded games in the App Store in several countries. However, the number of downloads Destiny: Rising garnered was not disclosed.
  • In November — after the reporting period — NetEase launched Sword of Justice and Where Winds Meet globally. The company chose not to share any new data about them at this time, but it was earlier reported that the Western version of Where Winds Meet attracted over 2 million gamers within a day. Considering the version for China, which was released last winter, the audience of Where Winds Meet has exceeded 40 million people. The figures for Sword of Justice are unknown.
  • The MMORPG Fantasy Westward Journey updated its record for peak online users four times during the quarter, ultimately reaching 3.58 million people.
