Remedy Entertainment has alerted its investors about a potential decrease in profits owing to underwhelming sales of their cooperative game, FBC: Firebreak.

The company's projections for the game's sales in the long run have been reduced, and they have marked a non-cash impairment of €14.9 million. This impairment pertains primarily to Firebreak's development costs, publishing, and distribution rights.

As a consequence, Remedy has modified its financial expectations for 2025. Initially, the developer had anticipated an uptick in both revenue and operating profit compared to the preceding year. However, a decline in operating profit is now anticipated due to Firebreak not reaching their "internal targets."

This outcome persists despite several updates after the game’s release, notably a significant update called Breakpoint in September, which introduced new content and improvements.

Remedy CEO Tero Virtala stated, "Remedy is recognising a non-cash impairment of capitalised development costs and allocated purchased publishing and distribution rights related to FBC: Firebreak."

Virtala further mentioned they are evaluating future investments while continuing to enhance the game, aligning with their revised long-term sales expectations.

Reflecting on Firebreak’s challenging release during Remedy's financial results presentation for the first half of 2025, Virtala expressed dissatisfaction with the sales achieved following the game's launch. Additionally, he noted that the title did not perform well on Steam, the intended main platform for PC.

Thomas Puha, Remedy's communications director, acknowledged that the company had aspired for a stronger launch but remained hopeful about the game's future with further updates and developments.
