The main games of August in numbers: analyzing new releases on PC and consoles in terms of revenue, sales, and other metrics

The Battlefield 6 beta practically overshadowed all August game releases. However, we will still traditionally discuss the revenue, sales, and other metrics of full-fledged releases from the past month — from the return of iconic series to a 3D fighting game popular exclusively in Japan.

The games discussed in this article:

  • Mafia: The Old Country: average sales and an overall lackluster return of the series
  • Titan Quest II: a successful sequel with potential for long-term success
  • Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater: an uncertain start for the new remake from Konami
  • Other notable August releases: reissues of Gears of War and Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War, the console release of Delta Force, Madden NFL 26, indie hit Tiny Bookshop, action-platformer Shinobi: Art of Vengeance, and a new fighter from Demon Slayer

To evaluate sales, revenue, and other metrics, we traditionally relied not only on official data from developers and publishers but also on information from third-party sources. Among them are Steam charts, GfK (UK retail), and Famitsu (Japanese retail), as well as data from analytical companies such as GameDiscoverCo, VG Insights, Gamalytic, and Alinea Analytics.
