The release of Crimson Desert has been postponed to the first quarter of 2026
The anticipated open-world RPG, Crimson Desert, developed by Pearl Abyss, is experiencing a postponement, with its release rescheduled for the initial quarter of 2026. This update was communicated by the South Korean game developer during a conference call discussing its second-quarter financial outcomes, as reported by Gematsu.
Initially, the game had been slated for a launch in the last quarter of the current fiscal year. The delay is attributed to extended timelines needed for schedule alignment and collaborations involving offline distribution, voice acting, console certification, and other preparations necessary for the launch, as stated by Pearl Abyss. The developer emphasized that the delay is a strategic move to ensure the game achieves significant success.
Though a new timeframe for the release has been revealed, the exact launch date remains undisclosed. Pearl Abyss mentioned that the announcement of the specific date will be made when it aligns with business strategies, rather than during the upcoming Gamescom.
Earlier discussions about Crimson Desert's development took place with former Pearl Abyss America CEO Jeonghee "JJ" Jin in 2023, as noted by GamesIndustry.biz in an interview.
