In June 2025, the American gaming market saw a sharp increase in revenue from console sales, reports Circana analyst Mat Piscatella. In that month, U.S. residents spent $978 million on gaming consoles—an increase of 249% compared to the previous year.

This growth can be attributed to the Nintendo Switch 2. In June, it sold 1.6 million units in the U.S.—the best launch sales of a console in U.S. history. Previously, the record was held by the PlayStation 4, which sold 1.1 million units in its debut month.
Sales of gaming accessories in the U.S. also grew in June, albeit at a slower pace—by 29% to $293 million. The best-selling device in terms of dollar sales was the Pro Controller for the Nintendo Switch 2.
Americans spent $4.42 billion on games in June, representing a 6% increase year-over-year. The month's top hit among paid titles remained Elden Ring Nightreign. Rounding out the top three were Death Stranding 2: On the Beach and Mario Kart World.
