Sales of the Nintendo Switch 2 have reached 5 million units (UPDATED)

The Nintendo website has released a chart showing the sales of the Nintendo Switch 2 as of June 30. According to this chart, less than a month after its release on June 5, 5 million units of the console have been sold worldwide.

Regional breakdown of Nintendo Switch 2 sales:

  • 1.8 million units — USA;
  • 1.47 million units — Japan;
  • 1.18 million units — Europe;
  • 550 thousand units — other countries.

The Nintendo Switch 2 is selling at a significantly faster rate than its predecessor. The first Switch sold 2.7 million units in its release month, and by the end of the fourth month, its sales had reached 4.71 million units.

Previously, due to the success of the Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo's stock prices rose to a record high. This allowed Nintendo to become the fifth most valuable public company in Japan, with a market capitalization now at 17.44 trillion yen, or roughly 122 billion dollars.

Update: Nintendo removed the chart and informed analyst David Gibson from MST Financial in a comment that these were incorrect data published by mistake.
