Analytics: In the first quarter of 2025, the net IAP revenue of the mobile gaming market reached $15.7 billion
Anton Slashchev, director of the Playhero studio, prepared a report on the mobile gaming market for January-March 2025 based on AppMagic data. Below are the key figures.

- In the first three months of 2025, gamers spent $15.7 billion on microtransactions (IAP), a 7% increase. Commissions and taxes have already been deducted from this amount.
- Quarterly game downloads reached 14 billion, a 7.6% growth.
- IAP revenue grew the most in block puzzles, increasing by 417% to $40.8 million. Sandboxes saw the largest decline, dropping 61.4% to $284.5 million.
- The top-grossing publisher remained Tencent, with revenue at $2.7 billion, a 5.3% increase. Azur led in downloads with 342 million, a 10.5% rise.
- A total of 12,821 new games were released on the App Store and Google Play this quarter. Their combined IAP revenue was $288 million, and total downloads amounted to 555 million.
- Only 3.4% of new releases reached 100,000 downloads monthly.
- Slashchev highlighted significant releases such as Where Winds Meet, I am Security, Screwdom, DC: Dark Legion, and Kingshot.
