Nintendo Switch 2 set a record for initial sales among consoles
Nintendo announced the first sales figures for the Nintendo Switch 2, revealing that the console sold over 3.5 million units in the first four days after its release.
According to the company, the Nintendo Switch 2 achieved the highest launch sales in Nintendo’s history. Demand for previous consoles at launch was lower.
For comparison: the original Nintendo Switch sold 2.74 million units in its first month.
Niko Partners analyst Daniel Ahmad added that the Nintendo Switch 2 set a new record not only among Nintendo consoles but also among all consoles ever released in the gaming industry. Previously, the leader was considered to be the PlayStation 5—as Ahmad reminded, it sold 4.4 million units in its first seven weeks.
Earlier, Nintendo announced its plans to sell 15 million Nintendo Switch 2 units by the end of the current fiscal year, i.e., by March 31, 2026.
