Sony's Annual Report: Increase in Gaming Division Revenue and Decline in Console Sales
Sony released its report for the fiscal year 2024, which ended on March 31, 2025. It was revealed that the gaming division was responsible for one-third of the company’s total revenue.

- Throughout the year, Sony earned 12.95 trillion yen ($88.13 billion, -0.5%) and achieved an operating profit of 1.4 trillion yen ($9.5 billion, +16%).
- The gaming division recorded the highest revenue with a total of 4.67 trillion yen ($31.7 billion, +9%).
- PlayStation generated most of its income from game and content sales — 2.5 trillion yen ($17 billion, +13%). Console sales contributed another 1.13 trillion yen ($7.7 billion, -6.5%), while revenue from gaming services was 669.8 billion yen ($4.5 billion, +23%).

- 76% of game copies were sold digitally.
- In the last three months of the fiscal year, the MAU of the PlayStation Network service was 124 million players — 6 million more than the previous year (118 million players).
- The forecast for the gaming division for the current fiscal year is 4.3 trillion yen ($29 billion) in revenue and 480 billion yen ($3.2 billion) in operating profit.
