Assassin's Creed Shadows is the best-selling game of March and the second best-selling game for the entire year in the United States
The leading bestseller game in the U.S. last month was Assassin’s Creed Shadows, reports Circana analyst Mat Piscatella in a recent report. Monster Hunter Wilds, which topped the chart in February, fell to the third position.

- By the end of March, Assassin’s Creed Shadows also secured the top spot in grossing rankings on Xbox and second places in grossing charts on PlayStation and Steam.
- Additionally, strong initial sales made Assassin’s Creed Shadows the second best-selling game in the U.S. for the period from January to March 2025. Monster Hunter Wilds remains in the top position in this chart.
- Alongside "Shadows," six other newcomers entered the top 20 best-selling games in the U.S. in March. Among them are MLB: The Show 25 (second place) and Split Fiction (fifth place).
- In March, Fortnite again topped the MAU (monthly active users) charts on PlayStation and Xbox. On Steam, R.E.P.O. led the equivalent chart.
- Notably, Dragon Age: The Veilguard managed to reach the tenth spot in the PlayStation MAU chart in March (↑93 positions). According to Piscatella, this was due to a giveaway for PlayStation Plus subscribers.
- In March, PlayStation 5 once again achieved the best sales in the U.S. among consoles both in dollar and unit terms.
- In total, Americans spent $4.69 billion on video games, gaming hardware, and gaming accessories in March. This represents a 6% decline compared to last year.
- Compared to March 2024, video game sales decreased by 4% to $4.16 billion, hardware sales fell by 25% to $286 million, and accessory sales dropped by 11% to $238 million.
