Sales of the Silent Hill 2 remake have exceeded 2 million copies

Konami announced that the remake of Silent Hill 2 has sold over 2 million copies worldwide. The game needed three and a half months to reach this milestone, with its release on PC and PlayStation 5 occurring on October 8, 2024.

The company noted that the 2 million copies include both digital and physical sales of the remake. It did not provide a breakdown of sales by platform.

Recall, the remake of Silent Hill 2 reached its first million copies sold just three days after its release. It appears the game's sales have since slowed down.

The remake of Silent Hill 2 was developed by the Polish studio Bloober Team. In an interview with the publication PAP Biznes, its president Piotr Babieno stated that the game team currently numbers about 100 people, which is slightly less than half of Bloober Team's staff. Another similar number of employees are working on the studio's next game, a horror titled Cronos: The New Dawn.

Babieno hopes that Cronos: The New Dawn will achieve sales similar to the Silent Hill 2 remake. The project is scheduled for release in 2025 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series.

"After the release of the Silent Hill 2 remake, a new chapter began in the history of Bloober Team. We have closed the phase of psychological horrors without deep gameplay mechanics and shifted focus to action-horrors. This significantly expands the potential audience for our games. Cronos: The New Dawn is the largest game we have ever worked on independently. [...] We do not publish forecasts, but our latest game [Silent Hill 2 Remake — Editor's note] serves as our benchmark both in terms of quality and market reception," said Babieno.
