EA adjusts FY2025 and Q3 forecasts owing to underperformance in two franchises
Electronic Arts has adjusted its financial projections for fiscal year 2025 following the underperformance of EA Sports FC 25 and Dragon Age: The Veilguard in the third quarter.
Initially, EA predicted net bookings between $7.5 billion and $7.8 billion for the year ending March 31, 2025. It has now updated this forecast to a range of $7 billion to $7.1 billion.
The company also shared preliminary results for its third quarter, showing expected net bookings of $2.2 billion, which is lower than the previously estimated $2.4 billion to $2.5 billion.
The main driver behind this revision was a decline in the global football series, with "momentum in the fiscal third quarter not maintaining its pace," according to EA.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard attracted about 1.5 million players during the quarter, falling short by 50% of the company's expectations.
Andrew Wilson, CEO of EA, commented, "Throughout Q3, we continued providing top-tier games and experiences, but Dragon Age and EA Sports FC 25 did not meet our net booking targets.
"This month, we rolled out a substantial gameplay update alongside our annual Team of the Year feature in FC 25; initial player reactions and early data are promising. We maintain confidence in our long-term approach and project growth for FY26 as we advance our development plans."
EA's CFO, Stuart Canfield, remarked, "We are concentrating on balancing future growth investment with effective operations, supporting EA's enduring financial approach. Heading into FY26, we anticipate expansion as we release more iconic series."
