Remedy announced that it is preparing to enter the next strategic phase of its development. Specifically, the company will focus on developing outstanding games in their category and publishing them independently. By 2030, it aims to transform Alan Wake and Control "from excellent games into world-class franchises." Remedy will generally devote significant attention to franchise development.
Here are the goals Remedy has set for itself:
- Double its revenue by 2027 compared to the figures for 2024;
- Achieve an EBITDA ratio of 30% by 2027 and maintain this level for at least three more years.
It is worth noting that from January to September 2024, Remedy earned 39 million euros, which is 65.1% more compared to the same period in 2023.
Regarding games, Remedy revealed that Alan Wake 2 has sold over 1.8 million copies to date. Whether it has recouped its costs was not specified. A recent financial report stated that the game is still not profitable, although it has covered most of its expenses.
Slightly fewer copies were sold of Alan Wake Remastered, with 1.7 million copies. In total, 15 million people have played the Alan Wake franchise games.
Control 2 will be an action RPG with a production budget of 50 million euros. The company estimates that 3-4 million copies need to be sold to achieve a 100% ROI (in other words, to double the initial investments). For comparison, 4.5 million people purchased the first Control, and thanks to Game Pass, PlayStation Plus subscriptions, and free giveaways on Epic Games Store, a total of 19 million people have played it.
The production budget for the PvE shooter FBC: Firebreak is 30 million euros. Remedy calculated that the game will reach a 100% ROI if it sells 3 million copies.
