EA reported a record second quarter in terms of revenue, which exceeded $2 billion

Electronic Arts released its financial report for the second quarter of fiscal year 2025, which ended on September 30. The results exceeded the company's expectations.

  • Revenues surpassed $2 billion, marking a 14% year-over-year increase. This is a record for the second quarter.
  • EA’s net revenue also rose by 5.8% to $2 billion.
  • The primary source of growth was game services, which accounted for 60% of revenue. They brought in $1.24 billion, a 10% increase from the previous year.
  • Revenue distribution across platforms is as follows: the largest share belongs to consoles at $1.48 billion (+29%), followed by PC ($327 million, -16%), and mobile devices ($270 million, -3%).
  • EA’s net profit reached $294 million, dropping by 26%.
  • Nevertheless, the solid results allowed the company to raise its annual forecast: EA now anticipates revenue of $7.4-7.7 billion and net profit of $1-1.15 billion.
  • American football games, including the Madden NFL and College Football franchises, remain growth drivers. EA believes revenue from them will exceed $1 billion for the year.
  • In the second quarter, time spent in these games increased by 140%, and the number of new players more than doubled.
  • The Sims 4 also saw an audience increase, with 15 million new players over the year.
  • In a discussion with investors, EA noted that quarterly revenue from Apex Legends fell short of expectations due to changes in its battle pass. Nevertheless, the company plans to continue developing the game, making targeted changes to the product and monetization.
