Capcom disclosed its financial performance for the first half of its 2024/25 fiscal year, noting "good progress" towards its annual objectives. The company, known for its video games, mentioned that sales of previously released titles rose year-over-year, and its performance in arcade operations and amusement equipment contributed positively to its profits.

Capcom's financial results were influenced by the schedule of new game releases, such as the latest installment of Monster Hunter, with projections "weighted" more towards the latter half of the year.

The numbers

By the end of September 30, 2024, Capcom's financial metrics revealed:

  • Net sales amounted to ¥56.4 billion ($368 million), marking a 25% decline compared to the previous year
  • Operating income was ¥20.7 billion ($135 million), a drop of 39% from last year
  • Net income stood at ¥15.2 billion ($99 million), reflecting a 40% decrease year-on-year

During this period, Capcom introduced six new titles, including Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster, and noted robust growth in its Monster Hunter series that is expecting a new release on February 28, 2025. Despite these changes, the company is maintaining its full-year projections and striving for a 12th consecutive year of growth, primarily fueled by a steady increase in its digital content sector.

Overall unit sales decreased by 11.4% year-over-year, totaling 20.05 million units, with nearly 85% of sales originating from international markets. In contrast, domestic sales in Japan made up 15%.
