"M.Video-Eldorado": Console sales in Russia for the first nine months of 2024 grew by almost half
The "M.Video-Eldorado" group of companies shared data on console sales in Russia from January to September 2024. The results from this period show that the Russian console market continues to grow steadily.
- From January to September, Russians spent 22.3 billion rubles on gaming consoles, which is 49% more than the same period in 2023.
- Over this nine-month period, the retailer sold 1.02 million devices.
- PlayStation remains the traditional sales leader, particularly the PS5, which became the country's best-selling console during this period. It accounted for 70% of the market in monetary terms and 29% in unit sales.
- "M.Video-Eldorado" believes that the launch of the new PlayStation 5 Pro will further boost demand for Sony devices: pre-orders have already exceeded the company's expectations threefold.
- Valve's portable PC is also on the rise: Steam Deck sales have more than doubled over the year, capturing 7.5% of total sales.
- Meanwhile, Xbox Series' share in the Russian console market is gradually declining—to 9.7% in monetary terms and 5.4% in unit sales. However, the situation may change due to new GamePass Ultimate subscription offerings, including Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.
- Additionally, "M.Video-Eldorado" noted a heightened interest among Russians in retro consoles: 433 thousand devices were sold in the first nine months of 2024.
