EA Sports FC 25 debut sets a new revenue milestone for soccer games | US Monthly Rankings

In September, EA Sports FC 25 emerged as the top-selling game in Circana's US listings, achieving the highest debut month revenue of any soccer title thus far.

The game experienced growth in sales by double digits compared to the previous year's EA Sports FC 24. It dominated sales on both PlayStation and Xbox platforms.

Coming in second was the PlayStation-exclusive Astro Bot, making its mark as the 25th highest-selling title year-to-date.

Completing the top five, Madden NFL 25 dropped two spots to third place, with The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom appearing at number four in its debut month. EA Sports College Football 25 also fell two ranks to fifth.

There were five new entries in the top ten during September, including NBA 2K25 at seventh and NHL 25 at ninth.

Among the top 20, Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics entered at rank 16, and Space Marine 2: Warhammer 40,000 debuted at 18.

On mobile, Supercell's Brawl Stars increased its US revenue by 64%, benefiting from a Spongebob Squarepants partnership.

Downloads of Last War: Survival surged by 42%, hitting a daily peak of 430,000, as noted by Sensor Tower's Samuel Aune.

Overall consumer expenditure in the US declined by 6% in September, reaching $4.3 billion. This was primarily due to a 44% drop in hardware spending to $251 million, setting the lowest record since September 2019. Content expenditure also decreased by 3% to $3.9 billion.

Circana reports year-to-date consumer spending at $2.5 billion, which is 30% less than last year.

Spending on video game content increased by 3% to $3.6 billion, while hardware spending fell by 30% to $2.5 billion.
