CD Projekt has reported a profit increase of almost 90%, driven by the success of Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty
CD Projekt has experienced a marked surge in sales and profit for the first half of 2024, as highlighted in its recent financial disclosures.
The company, based in Poland, disclosed a remarkable 30.7% rise in sales, increasing from PLN 324.2 million ($84 million) during the same timeframe last year to PLN 424.8 million ($109 million).
Notably, the net profit reached PLN 170 million ($43 million), reflecting a substantial 88.7% increase compared to the PLN 90.2 million ($23 million) recorded in the first half of 2023.
This growth is largely credited to robust sales of its games, including Cyberpunk 2077, its expansion Phantom Liberty, and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt along with its downloadable content.
On the development front, CD Projekt shared progress on its endeavors. The inaugural entry in the forthcoming Witcher series, presently referred to as Project Polaris, is advancing to the production stage. Concurrently, preliminary work on the subsequent title in the Cyberpunk series, codenamed Project Orion, is underway at their Boston facility.
CD Projekt's CFO, Piotr Nielubowicz, commented that the profit for H1 2024 exceeded the previous year’s numbers by almost 90%. Despite distributing nearly PLN 100 million ($25 million) in dividends and earmarking over PLN 150 million ($38 million) for new initiatives, the company's financial reserves saw an increase of more than PLN 55 million ($14 million).
