Electronic Arts confirms Battlefield 6 for current-gen consoles as it reports $5.62 billion in revenue

Electronic Arts has released its report for the fiscal year ended March 31. The company’s revenue stayed on the same level, although its live services continue to grow.

Key data

  • Net revenue was $5.62 billion, which is up only 1.6% year-over-year.
  • However, EA increased its revenue from live services (paid subscriptions, games like Apex Legends, DLCs, etc.) to $4 billion, as they now account for 71% of the company’s total revenue.
  • Revenue from games was $1.6 billion, which is down 16.9% from the previous year.
  • Net income was $837 million, which is down 263% year-over-year. It’s due to the fact that EA managed to receive one-time tax benefits during the previous period.
  • Electronic Arts also expects $6.8 billion in revenue and $390 million in net income for the new fiscal year.

Games

  • EA released 13 new games, with over 42 million new players joining its network during the fiscal year.
  • FIFA 21 has now over 25 million players on consoles and PC. The number of FIFA Ultimate Team users also grew 16% year-over-year.
  • Apex Legends surpassed 100 million active players, as 12 million people played Season 8 every week.
  • The Sims 4 showed the sixth consecutive year of growth, as the game reached almost 36 million players.
  • During the earnings call, EA CEO Andrew Wilson also revealed that Battlefield 6 will be released for both current-gen and next-gen consoles. However, the company promised epic scale battles, unbelievable player count, and destruction. The game will be announced next month.
