Tencent Report: Profits Increased by 82%, Dungeon & Fighter Mobile - A New Evergreen Hit

Tencent has published its financial results for the second quarter of 2024. Let’s see what’s in the report.

Dungeon & Fighter Mobile

  • Tencent’s quarterly revenue reached RMB 161.1 billion (USD 22.6 billion), which is an 8% increase compared to last year.
  • Gross profit increased by 21% to RMB 85.9 billion (USD 12.1 billion). Profit attributable to Tencent’s ordinary shareholders surged by 82%, reaching RMB 47.6 billion (USD 6.7 billion).
  • Games accounted for 30% of Tencent's quarterly revenue — RMB 48.5 billion (USD 6.78 billion).

How Tencent’s quarterly revenue is distributed across segments

  • Game sales in China amounted to RMB 34.6 billion (USD 4.84 billion), increasing by 9% year-on-year. As noted by Tencent, the main growth drivers were Dungeon & Fighter Mobile and Valorant.
  • International game sales also rose by 9%, totaling RMB 13.9 billion (USD 1.94 billion). This was achieved thanks to the growing popularity of Supercell games and strong performance by PUBG Mobile.
  • Gross receipts for Brawl Stars grew more than tenfold within the year, and the average number of daily active users reached a record level.
  • Tencent is pleased with the launch of Dungeon & Fighter Mobile in China and views it as the next "evergreen" hit. The game was released in China on May 21, 2024. According to Niko Partners' estimates, it earned USD 500 million in its debut month in the country.
