In the second quarter of 2024, Content Warning became the leader in the U.S. and Europe in terms of copies sold, while Fortnite led in revenue
The analytics company Newzoo has named the console and PC games with the highest revenue and number of copies sold for the period of April to June 2024. The top charts considered the performance of games only in six markets: the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Spain, Italy, and Germany.
Fortnite — on the left, Content Warning — on the right
According to the report, the top-grossing game of the quarter was Fortnite. It alone generated 10% of all revenue for console and PC games in the aforementioned markets. The second place went to EA Sports FC 24, with a 7.4% share.
The release of the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion helped Elden Ring secure eighth place in the top-grossing list. Also, Ghost of Tsushima made it to the tenth place, after a successful debut on PC in mid-May.
The main hit of the quarter in terms of the number of copies sold was the cooperative horror game Content Warning. As noted by Newzoo, the game was purchased 1.5 million times over three months in the markets it tracks.
Content Warning is not the only indie game in the top-selling chart. It is joined by Manor Lords, which took the sixth place.
