Techland reported the largest loss in its history

The creators of Dying Light ended the year 2023 with an operating loss of 90 million zlotys (22.7 million dollars), reports the Polish publication Puls Biznesu, citing Techland's financial report. This is the worst result in the company's history.

Dying Light 2 Stay Human: Bloody Ties

Compared to the previous year, Techland's revenue fell nearly fivefold—from 1.12 billion zlotys (283.2 million dollars) to 229.1 million zlotys (57.9 million dollars). It is worth noting that 2022 was a record year for Techland in terms of revenue. During that time, the company's income significantly increased following the release of Dying Light 2: Stay Human and the Bloody Ties expansion.

Techland's management notes that this is a normal situation. The profits of gaming companies rise and fall depending on the release of new games. The revenue generated by Techland's previously released projects is sufficient for the company's further development.

Currently, Techland is working on its next game. According to Puls Biznesu, in 2023 the company spent 24.6 million zlotys (6.2 million dollars) on its development. Techland's total production expenses for the year amounted to 96.5 million zlotys (24.4 million dollars).
