GAME refutes claims about discontinuing physical sales
GAME has refuted claims that it plans to halt the sale of physical games.
Previously today, Gfinity reported that the British retailer intended to sell physical games and hardware solely through online pre-orders, available for in-store collection or home delivery.
"This report is absolutely false," a spokesperson told GamesIndustry.biz. "GAME remains committed to the physical gaming market, providing a broad selection of physical games, hardware, software, accessories, and digital gift cards, both in-store and online."
Earlier in the month, the retailer ended its reward scheme and Xbox All Access. In January, GAME started winding down trade-ins and sales of pre-owned games.
Last June, managing director Nick Arran told GamesIndustry.biz that GAME "will be the last man standing selling physical games."
"We believe there's still a market for physical items, whether for collector's editions, which can be viewed as the vinyl of games, or for those wishing to give a tangible gift instead of a download code."
