Stellar Blade became the best-selling game of April in the United States, surpassing Helldivers 2 and Call of Duty in sales

The analytics company Circana discussed the state of the American gaming market in April. We have chosen the key points from the report.

Stellar Blade

  • In April, U.S. residents spent $4.09 billion on video games, gaming hardware, and accessories. This is 3% less than the previous year.
  • Video game sales amounted to $3.73 billion (+2%), hardware sales were $208 million (-43%), and accessory sales were $152 million (-4%).

  • The best-selling console in both dollar and unit sales remained the PlayStation 5. Dollar sales of the Nintendo Switch dropped by 69%.
  • The PlayStation Portal was the best-selling accessory of the month.
  • The top 5 best-selling games in April were: Stellar Blade, Helldivers 2, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, Skull and Bones, and Fallout 4. The latter entered the top due to the popularity of the Amazon series; alongside it, Fallout 76 also made it into the top ten, ranking eighth.
  • Call of Duty HQ took the top spot for monthly active players on PlayStation 5. On Xbox Series, Fortnite led in this regard, and on Steam, it was Helldivers 2.
