CD Projekt announced the suspension of sales of its games in Russia and Belarus
New sanctions. This time the game. The Polish holding CD Projekt is going to stop selling its games on the territory of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus.
The company announced that today it began negotiations with its partners to stop the distribution of both digital and physical versions of games. In addition, Russian and Belarusian users will no longer be able to purchase games on the GOG platform, which belongs to CD Projekt.
The reason for the sanctions CD Projekt called [Roskomnadzor] in Ukraine. The company understands that its decision will hit ordinary residents of Russia and Belarus who are not connected with the events taking place on Ukrainian territory. However, the holding is confident that such a step will increase the attention of the world community to the situation.
By the way, a couple of days ago GOG stopped accepting payments in rubles. But at that time, it was enough to switch the payment to dollars to solve the problem.
CD Projekt is not the first gaming company to announce the suspension of sales of its games in Russia and Belarus. Earlier, this step was taken by another Polish studio — Bloober Team, noted for the development of Layers of Fear, The Medium and Observer.
