In 2022, global sales of console and PC games fell to $92.3 billion
The analytical company Newzoo has published a detailed report on the state of the console and PC games market in 2022.
Revenue of the entire market decreased by 2.2% to $92.3 billion. Browser games showed the biggest drop — they fell by 16.7% to $2.3 billion. The only segment whose revenue grew was PC games. Its revenue grew by 1.8% to $38.2 billion.
The USA and China accounted for 48% of the market revenue.
▪️50% of console gamers and 46% of PC gamers did not spend money on games.
Last year, gamers spent over 100 billion hours playing games for consoles and PCs (-23%). Shooters were played the most — they accounted for 20% of the time.
