Square Enix's operating profit for the year fell by 65%
Square Enix reported for three fiscal quarters following other game publishers. The company is not doing well, judging by its indicators.
Shadow of the Tomb RaiderSquare Enix’s net sales for April — December 2018 amounted to $1.63 billion.
- They fell by 4.8% in annual terms.
- Operating profit reached $106 million. Here, too, there is a drop compared to the same period of the last financial year — by 65.3%.
- At the same time, the publisher’s revenues are growing in the entertainment segment. They reached $433.8 million (15% more in annual terms).
- It was positively affected by the release of such console titles as Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Just Cause 4 and Octopath Traveler.
- Nevertheless, the operating profit of the division decreased by 59.3% to $134.9 million. The company attributes this to the high costs of developing AAA games and increased advertising costs.
- Square Enix noted that it is doing its best to increase its profit and competitiveness.
