Global sales of GTA V exceeded 90 million copies

Rockstar Studio’s hit has been on the market for almost 5 years and is still selling great. Total sales of GTA V action exceeded 90 million copies, and in 2017 15 million copies of the game were sold.

This was announced by Daniel Ahmad, an analyst at Niko Partners, on Twitter with reference to the latest financial report of the publisher Take-Two Interactive.

15 million copies per year for a 2013 title is an impressive result. For comparison, Star Wars Battlefront II sold 7 million copies. However, the sales of Battlefront II were damaged by the scandal due to the loot boxes and the policy of Electronic Arts to monetize their games.

GTA V is not forgotten thanks to its GTA Online multiplayer mode, which regularly receives updates and new content. One of the latest additions last year was the Last Man Standing game mode, which turns GTA into a “royal battle” like PLAYERUNKOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS.

In the last quarter, GTA Online remained the leading Take-Two title in terms of the amount of money that players spend on in-game purchases.

The success of GTA V has been repeatedly noted by market analysts. Last year, NPD Group named GTA V the best-selling game on the US video game market for 22 years of observations, and SuperData recognized GTA V as the most profitable console game in history.
