The first quarter of 2016 was a record revenue for Activision Blizzard
The largest gaming company in the United States, which owns Activision, Blizzard and King, reported for the first three months of this year, which became a record for its total revenues.
Activision Blizzard earned $908 million (non-GAAP) in the first quarter. This is the largest amount that the company has ever earned in the same period before. Plus, in February, the company was expected to earn $108 million less.
Of this amount, $620 million (non-GAAP) was spent on in-game content purchases. This is 20% more than last year, excluding King’s income. And 80% more, taking into account the income of the authors of Candy Crush Saga.
One of the significant events from a financial point of view was that in the first quarter, revenues from HearthStone increased by 20% compared to the same figures a year ago. VentureBeat associates this with pre-orders for the latest expansion – Whispers of the Old Gods. The total number of registered users of the card game has reached 50 million people.
Also out of curiosity:
- The MAU of Activision projects amounted to 55 million, an increase of 10% compared to the same period last year;
- MAU of Blizzard projects reached 26 million, an increase of 23%;
- The MAU of King games has reached the 463 million mark . This is 3% more than a quarter earlier.
