Smartphone sales in 2015 amounted to 1.3 billion
In 2015, 1.3 billion smartphones were sold worldwide. Such data was announced in the report by the research company GfK.
The number of smartphones sold increased by 7% compared to 2014. Then 1.2 billion devices were sold worldwide.
Despite the fact that the numbers continue to grow, this growth has slowed down: in 2014, sales increased by 23% compared to the previous year.
The total revenue generated from the sale of applications, games and in-game purchases amounted to $399.2. This is only 1% higher than in 2014.
Sales, as well as income, vary from country to country. Thus, GfK experts noted that there is a 34% increase in sales in India compared to the previous year. This is mainly due to cheap (with a cost in the region of $ 100) smartphones.
In 2016, smartphone sales will grow by another 7% and reach 1.4 billion, GfK experts predict. Growth will occur in all regions except Latin America.
