FIFA has revealed a new collaboration with Rocket League to create an esports World Cup
FIFA has collaborated with Rocket League for an upcoming esports World Cup.
During the Rocket League Championship Series on Sunday, it was disclosed that 16 nations will compete, each represented by a team of three primary players and one backup.
The selection of countries will be based on past participation in previous Rocket League Major events.
Christian Volk, FIFA's director of eFootball and gaming, stated, "The FIFAe World Cup featuring Rocket League ushers in a new phase for FIFAe, creating an innovative platform for FIFA's member associations to engage in one of the top esports titles."
Volk emphasized, "This landmark collaboration underscores our dedication to advancing our football esports framework and building the most significant platforms for every community."
This event marks the first tournament by FIFA since ending its nearly three-decade-long partnership with EA in 2022 after opting not to extend its licensing deal.
